Aftercare & materials

What goes into the skin, and what happens after.

Every pigment, needle and consumable used in my studio is selected for one reason: the safety of the person in the chair and the longevity of the tattoo.

Materials

Eclipse Tattoo Ink
European-made black ink with a high pigment purity, vegan and REACH compliant. Used for lining, shading and solid black, and it dilutes into clean grey washes — essential for black and grey work.
Raw Pigments
A second black used alongside Eclipse for its density and smooth healing, chosen after testing across skin types and healing conditions.
Emalla cartridge needles
Sterile, single-use cartridges only. Precision tips and consistent ink flow mean less trauma to the skin, sharper lines and softer shading.
Single-use consumables
Needles, tubes, razors, ink caps, barriers and gloves are opened in front of the client and discarded after the session. Surfaces and equipment are disinfected before and after every appointment.

Aftercare guide

Healing your tattoo

Aftercare decides how a tattoo looks in ten years. Follow these steps, and contact me if anything feels off.

  1. 01

Keep the bandage on for 2–6 hours

The fresh tattoo is covered to protect it from bacteria. Leave the wrap on for the time I tell you at the end of the session, so the skin can release excess ink and plasma.

  2. 02

    Wash it gently

Remove the wrap and wash with lukewarm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap, using clean fingertips only. Rinse well and pat dry with a paper towel. Never rub or scrub.

  3. 03

Apply a thin layer of balm

Once clean and dry, apply a very thin layer of a tattoo-specific balm or fragrance-free moisturiser, 2–3 times a day for about a week. Less is more — the skin needs to breathe.

  4. 04

Avoid sun, pools and long baths

No direct sun or tanning beds for at least three weeks, and no swimming pools, hot tubs or long soaks until it is fully healed. UV and standing water fade and damage fresh work.

  5. 05

    Do not scratch or pick

Itching and light peeling are normal. Picking scabs disturbs healing and can cause scarring or patchy ink. Tap the area gently instead.

  6. 06

    Rest, hydrate, eat well

Your body heals the tattoo. Drink water, sleep properly and eat well. If you notice excessive redness, swelling or discharge, message me and see a doctor.

Hygiene

Sterile, single-use tooling, disinfected surfaces and documented protocols are not optional extras — they are the baseline for every session.
